Will China employ green building practices during its rapid industrialization ?

As china modernizes will it mimic the US or will it develop new means in achieving rapid industrialization ?.

Some say that the direction China takes when it comes to the types of technologies and building practise employed will have a drastic effect on the ecological health of the planet and the amount of energy resources available for future generations. In the past the United States and Europe implemented a brutal approach to extracting resources from the earth in the name of modernization and increasing profits. As modern day China finds it self at the precipice of being able to develop a new model of industrialization, will China bring forth a new energy / construction paradigm in the similar manner of the Masdar Initiative or will it take a western 1900s brutalist approach to modernization ?
